Our International Excellence Scholarships recognise and reward exceptional academic achievement, and support gifted students as they begin their journey at Loughborough. These prestigious awards provide £3,000 towards tuition fees for each year of study, worth up to £9,000 over a standard undergraduate degree.
The scholarship does not apply during a placement or study abroad year where these form part of your course. It is also not available to students who repeat a year of study.
Application process and eligibility criteria
No separate scholarship application is required. You will automatically be considered for an International Excellence Scholarship based on your application to Loughborough through UCAS or the OnCampus Loughborough Centre.
International Excellence Scholarships are available for all undergraduate degree programmes (excluding Foundation courses). To receive an award, you'll typically need to achieve AAA at A level (or equivalent qualification) with the exception of the following courses, which require A*AA:
- MEng Aeronautical Engineering
- MEng Automotive Engineering
- MEng Mechanical Engineering
- MSci Natural Sciences
- BSc Sport and Exercise Science
We consider a wide range of international school and college qualifications that are equivalent to A levels. We also recognise many well-established UK International Foundation Programmes. Eligibility
To be considered for an International Excellence Scholarship, you must:
- Be a self-funded international fee-paying student, and not in receipt of any other University award or sponsorship by an external body.
- Hold an offer to study at Loughborough and make us your firm (first) choice through UCAS or accept an offer to progress from the OnCampus Loughborough Centre.
- Meet all scholarship requirements in full, achieving the required grades in qualifications completed at the first sitting, without resits.
Successful students will be notified if they have been awarded a scholarship shortly after receiving their offer from our Undergraduate Admissions team.
Deferring your entry
International Excellence Scholarships are awarded for a specific year of entry and are not automatically carried forward if you choose to defer your place. If you are considering deferral, please contact our Undergraduate Admissions team to discuss your eligibility for the scholarship in a future entry cycle.
