Our Urban Planning course gives you the option to incorporate a placement year of paid work in industry after your second year of study. Most placements are fully salaried, with typical salaries from £17,000 to £22,000.

Integrated within our course from the first year is an emphasis on your own professional development, encouraging you to undertake extra-curricular activities such as Planning Aid. Planning Aid works with local communities and individuals to support them in contributing to planning such as the development of a Neighbourhood Plan. These types of activities will assist you in gaining valuable experience and developing a professional network to assist in securing a placement.

We have established relationships with the planning community nationally and locally in the East Midlands. Placement opportunities could range from local planning authorities and independent planning consultancies through to national government agencies.

Our dedicated staff will support you throughout the process and help you find a placement that matches your strengths and career ambitions.

Additional award

This course comes with the option to undertake an industrial placement for a year, at the end of which you will gain a Diploma in Industrial Studies (DIS). This is an additional award to the final qualification you will receive once you have successfully completed this course.
