A professional placement year is an excellent way to add value to your degree.
It enables you to put your skills and knowledge into and giving you substantial industry experience that can really help your CV stand out in the competitive market for graduate jobs.
The Mathematical Sciences Department has established relationships with a variety of industrial, commercial and research companies, which has led to our students undertaking placements within these sectors.
Although you are responsible for securing your placement, you will have the support of our Careers Network, plus the opportunity to find out about placement opportunities at our annual recruitment fairs.
Additional award
By undertaking a year in placement or a year abroad, you will gain an additional award alongside your final qualification. If you undertake a professional placement year you will gain a Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS) or if you study abroad for a year you will gain a Diploma in International Studies (DIntS).
