Accredited by the Royal Society of Biology, our courses draw on the University’s established reputation in individual sciences, as well as multidisciplinary expertise in areas such as regenerative medicine, global health, nutrition, and physical activity.

Our biosciences courses are designed to develop understanding of the scientific processes underlying human life and health, benefitting from outstanding facilities and the research insights of our internationally renowned academic staff. We believe hands-on laboratory experience is vitally important to the development of your biosciences education.

STEMLab allows students to develop their lab skills in purpose-built biology labs. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn key techniques fundamental to biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and genetics, gaining skills such as pipetting, microscopy, spectrophotometry, and ELISA. You can also progress to more advanced techniques, including cell culture and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). This practical experience will help to open up careers in research and industry.
