Outreach

The outstanding facilities in STEMLab provide a focal point for scientific endeavour at Loughborough and new spaces in which to engage with future generations of students, promoting STEM subjects to young people, including those from traditionally under-represented groups.

The School and College Liaison Team hosts a number of events throughout the academic year to give students a flavour of university learning. These events also allow them to spend some time on a university campus.

Our events and activities are designed to highlight some of the fantastic opportunities that Higher Education has to offer prospective students and young people. Often, they also help to demystify some of the perceived barriers and obstacles related to studying at university.  Our taster days and residential events allow prospective students to imagine themselves as undergraduates.

Below are just some of the outreach activities we run.

Inspiring Minds

Inspiring Minds is an excellent opportunity for post-16 students to learn about university options through a series of academic taster days focusing on different subject areas. Our Inspiring Minds-STEM events give an insight into STEM at Loughborough.

Engaging with the community

STEMLab has provided opportunities for members of the local community - young and old - to find out more about science and engineering at Loughborough University.
