Course

Loughborough stood out to me from other universities because of the unique nature of the Sustainable Design and Construction MSc programme. It targets all key skills and knowledge for a successful future in my desired career of sustainability consultancy. Loughborough also has exceptional sports facilities, high national rankings within the built environment and the University overall.

Preparing for a future career

I aim to become a sustainability consultant within the built environment as I want to make an impact and create a better and more environmentally conscious world around us. The modules taught on the programme have enabled me to understand the reality of the professional built environment and what can be done to make it more sustainable. I have been introduced to relevant software and guidelines, and the modules have been incredibly varied to expose me to different areas within the industry.

Learning from experts

When I joined, I was not sure if I would understand all the modules as I did my undergraduate degree in a slightly different area. However, the passion and expertise of the lecturers and tutors has enabled me to easily understand all my coursework and inspired me to strive to do my best.

For example, my dissertation research is contributing to the Circular Economy research conducted by Loughborough University amongst other high profile universities, which is incredibly exciting and will help me when applying for jobs in the sector.

Advice for prospective students

I would encourage anyone considering the Sustainable Design and Construction MSc programme at Loughborough to join. The programme targets all relevant skills and knowledge required to have a successful career in the sustainable built environment sector.

You will have plenty of opportunities to join a variety of extracurricular activities. I volunteered to become a Course Representative, which has been a fantastic experience. The availability of world-leading sports facilities has also allowed me to undertake triathlon training throughout my studies!
