Alumnus, International student

Loughborough has inspired me in a lot of ways. Firstly, giving me an international exposure. Secondly, a hands-on experience, especially in the 'Employment Law' module where we visited employment tribunals and sat through a live court hearing. Finally, meeting all the people that have inspired me to do great things and get better every day.

What first inspired you to come to Loughborough University?

I was looking at a university fulfilling three criteria:

  1. Top 10 in the UK
  2. Outstanding facilities
  3. Triple-accredited course framework.

Loughborough ticked all the boxes. Also, the campus played a major role.

What has been your favourite memory from your time at Loughborough?

Meeting new people, trying new things which I have never done before, and spending countless nights together with my friends.

What have you enjoyed most about your programme?

The modules were practical and interesting. My favourite part was the coursework. It is totally different to the ones in India. I had a steep learning curve in the beginning, but gradually got better at it.

What are your next steps after graduating?

I have my own business back in India. Coming back to business after a year abroad gives you new ideas to bounce about. The learning from the modules will help me find proper solutions to the problems present here.

What are your career aspirations and how has your course prepared you for these?

My career aspiration is to develop an organisation that is ‘human friendly’ and in the meantime become successful at it too. I am sure this course has given me a basic idea of how to go about it.

How have you developed your employability at Loughborough?

There were several workshops presented by the Careers Network which helped in improving my employability.

Tell us about the CIPD award you received

CIPD is necessary for every HR professional in the UK. I attended one of their seminars which really showcased their ability to bring together people across different fields. Our course is CIPD-accredited and it is really heartening that CIPD chose to acknowledge me for a particular qualification.

What would you say to someone considering your course?

I would definitely recommend it. The course is well structured and it gives you an overall understanding about the concepts of Human Resource Management.
