International student, Alumnus

Loughborough has the second oldest Construction Management MSc master's programme and some of the best academics in the construction industry. This was a significant factor in making the decision to come to Loughborough.

Having been away from academia for a few years practicing, I thought things were going to be tough, but the support and skills of the teaching staff made it a very comfortable transition. The library and sporting facilities are of great benefit and, most importantly, the community feeling at Loughborough made studying very efficient.

I aspire to make a change in the construction industry in Ghana and Loughborough has set me up with a diverse skill set and knowledge for this challenge. The mix of modules and the content has really shaped my view of the global construction industry and how to drive change with people being the driving force. I have been exploring the integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and life-cycle assessment for optimized sustainable design in Ghana as a contribution to the country’s efforts to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG) 11 and 13.

My year in Loughborough has been one of the best years of my life. The diversity, resources and quality of the teaching staff are top class. I have seen several ground-breaking achievements by students at Loughborough, which have inspired me, and I believe that I can do the same with what Loughborough has offered me.

My greatest achievement during my time at Loughborough University was getting the opportunity to become a course representative because this allowed me to shape my ability to represent the views of others.
