“When I decided to come to Loughborough University, I already had a strong passion for entrepreneurship. Loughborough Business School has been an amazing place to study. My programme has given me invaluable practical knowledge, alongside the mentorship and resources necessary to start making my dreams of founding a business a reality.
“During one of our MBA classes, we had the opportunity to hear from an experienced consultant as a guest speaker. His talk inspired me to put my idea for creating my own business into action. He highlighted the importance of gaining real-world experience to stand out in the competitive world of recruitment for large consulting organisations.
“During my time studying here, I’ve had the chance to work with a fellow student to build my own consulting firm, which focuses on developing bespoke strategies for business growth and monetization. The practical experience of building a business has really helped to contextualise the learning from my MBA programme and prepare me for life after graduation.
“The programme has provided great opportunities to expand learning beyond the classroom, and I was part of a cohort of MBA students who went to the European Summer School for Advanced Management (ESSAM) at the University of Glasgow. ESSAM brought together MBA students from across the world for two weeks focused on consultancy work. We had the chance to take part in consulting competitions, winning one and placing second in another. I came back to Loughborough with plenty of new ideas and a renewed drive to build a business.
“One of the standout aspects of my experience at Loughborough has been the support from faculty. My lecturers went beyond the classroom — offering guidance, challenging my thinking, and helping me refine my ideas into viable business concepts.
“When it came time to pitch my business, Hopewell, they were there with feedback that sharpened both the strategy and delivery. Several even connected me to potential clients and collaborators, which gave our consultancy an early boost. It’s been incredibly motivating to be in an environment where academic insight meets real-world opportunity.
“Basketball has always been a big part of my life — I’ve played competitively since primary school. One of the things that drew me to Loughborough was its reputation as a leading sports university, and it didn’t disappoint. The vibrant sporting environment here gave me the chance to not only compete and stay active, but also connect with incredible athletes across disciplines. I even organised some friendly games with my MBA classmates, which became a fun way to bond, blow off steam, and strengthen our sense of community beyond the classroom.”
