After graduating from Loughborough, I have had the opportunity to work in the leading private equity firm in my country, as well as harness my finance skills into development finance for an international NGO.

Why did you choose to study your programme at Loughborough University?

The University offered modules under the programme that interested me in my passion for learning more about the investment sector.

Why did you choose to continue onto further study?

I wanted to have an added advantage on opportunities, and I also wanted to expand my knowledge as I had a desire to work in the private equity sector.

What were you doing before starting the programme?

I was studying for my BSc in Financial Economics in Wales.

What did you love most about your course?

I really enjoyed the versatile modules the course offered. In particular I really enjoyed Financial Markets and Institutions. Besides having a good lecturer, I was also able to learn about how financial markets work and how I can contribute to that in the future.

What kind of support did you receive?

As an international student, the department and the University were very supportive and made sure that all my needs were attended to and ensured that as an international student, I was included in all the activities available to me.

How did you find the postgraduate community?

The postgraduate community is very close knit, especially those under the Business School. The University has designed the classes not to have too many students, which makes building relations easier, especially when it comes to group work.

How did your time at Loughborough develop your employability?

The careers support was very good for me, as I was able to narrow down the kind of work I wanted to do after graduation; my lecturers were very supportive alongside the University. I was able to construct a well-rounded CV/resume which covered my experience well and was equipped with interview skills which I still use to date. I appreciate all the support I got as it is still relevant now.

What has been your career journey after your MSc?

After graduating from Loughborough, I have had the opportunity to work in the leading private equity firm in my country (Zimbabwe), as well as harness my finance skills into development finance for an international NGO. In the near future, I hope to complete my CFA.

What would you say to someone considering studying at Loughborough?

It will be the best choice you will make for your career. The doors it opens is beyond words!

What was your favourite thing about being a Loughborough student?

The best thing is the campus. The atmosphere was always buzzing, whether you are trying to get some food or even in the Library; it was truly an experience I would recommend, especially as a master’s student.

How was the experience of living in Loughborough?

Loughborough is such a nice and quiet town but always buzzing with students and young like-minded individuals. My favourite part about my time was the town; although small, it offered me many choices and is very close to bigger cities like Leicester and Nottingham. You get the best of both worlds.
