Research and teaching

Our postgraduate programmes draw on the University’s research specialisms in computer vision, AI, human centred systems, networks and systems and theoretical computer science.

We ensure our students are at the forefront of technological advances through the modules we deliver. We keep up with the fast pace of this subject and give students the breadth of knowledge required to develop a deeper understanding.  The programmes are taught by experts in their field, many of whom are nationally and internationally renowned for their research.

Links with industry

At Loughborough we have strong links with industry partners, giving us extra scope to provide a unique experience for our students. Not only do our industry partners inform the curriculum, but they also shape the way research and projects are conducted. Organisations such as BAE Systems, Jennic, Arqiva, Sure, Advantica, Toyota, Sensinode and Rolls-Royce have collaborated with us and shared their expertise in order to develop new ideas and solve the challenges facing industry today.

Facilities

Throughout your studies you will have access to our extensive range of facilities designed to fully equip you for work in industry or further study.

As well as having exclusive 24-hour access to computer laboratories in the Haslegrave Building, you will benefit from a dedicated MSc laboratory and robotics laboratory both supported by a team of specialists. As an MSc student in the department, you will also be able to take advantage of a range of hardware and software including humanoid robots, body-wearable sensors, eye-tracking systems and visual reality facilities.
