Daniel Fong

Dr Daniel Fong

Reader in Sports Medicine and Biomechanics

Daniel’s research focuses on sport-related ankle ligamentous sprain injury, using advanced forensic motion analysis to quantify the injury mechanism with biomechanics quantities. He also researches: knee biomechanics, sport medicine, slips and falls, orthopaedic devices and biomedical engineering.

Patrick Wheeler

Professor Patrick Wheeler

Honorary Clinical Professor of Sport and Exercise Medicine

Patrick combines his role at Loughborough with his work as a Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. He has worked extensively with elite sports teams and is currently the Principal Investigator on NHS research trials examining chronic tendinopathies.

Professor Jonathan Folland

Prof Jonathan Folland

Professor of Neuromuscular Performance

Jonathan's teaching, research and consultancy work is focused on Neuromuscular Performance and the underlying physiology and biomechanics. This topic has applications to athletic performance, sports injury and human health.

Keith Tolfrey

Dr Keith Tolfrey

Reader in Paediatric Exercise Physiology

Keith is a Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences and Director of the International Confederation of Sport and Exercise Practice. His research is in paediatric exercise, health and performance; he also has extensive experience of quantitative statistics and research design.

Dr Hannah Dugdale

Dr Hannah Dugdale

Lecturer

Hannah's teaching focuses on molecular and cellular physiology. Her research investigates muscle disease pathologies and the contribution myoblast fusion plays in exacerbating and even causing the pathophenotype.

Dr Dimitrios Voukelatos

Dr Dimitrios Voukelatos

University Teacher in Biomechanics

Dimitrios’ research is focused on the study of neuromuscular function using both experimental and theoretical means with the aim of improving human movement in both sport and everyday life. Recently he has also been studying the behaviour of soft tissue during high impact activities.

Dr Stuart Mcerlain-Naylor

Dr Stuart McErlain-Naylor

Lecturer

Stuart’s main area of research focus is the integration of wearable technology and musculoskeletal modelling to provide individual-specific estimates of post-impact loading on tissues during training/rehabilitation. Applications of this work include training load monitoring and prescription.
