Understanding People, Behaviours and Context (15 credits)

The aim of this module is to introduce postgraduate design students to the principles and practice of human-centered research to identify opportunities for the design of product and service experiences.

Ideation and Visualisation for Industrial Design (30 credits)

The aim of the module is:

  • To develop knowledge of and competence with a range of ideation techniques along with analogue and digital visual communication methods commonly used in industrial design.
  • To develop knowledge of technologies associated with industrial design and suggest the integration of such technologies into the process of designing products.
  • To explore emerging technologies and consider the possible impact on future industrial design practice.

Design for AI Products (15 credits)

The aim of this module is to enable students to identify AI opportunities in a Product (Service) Design context, critically understand, and apply the four stages of the AI Design Process. Analyse the steps to build a process/business case through assessing the needs of stakeholders, mapping the process, cost modeling, assessing technical readiness, prioritising opportunities, and asking key questions.
