Our Exercise Rehabilitation MSc is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to work safely and effectively in a clinical/medical exercise rehabilitation setting or wider exercise and fitness industry context. Compulsory
Quantitative Research (15 credits)
The aim of this module is for the student to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, interpret, and conduct quantitative research appropriate for their field and level of study.
Further Research Methods and Project Preparation (15 credits)
The aims of the module are to:
- Develop an understanding of the philosophical and methodological underpinnings of the research process and a critical and practical understanding of different research methods, designs and of selected analytical techniques and procedures relevant to Sport or Exercise Rehabilitation Sciences
- Apply knowledge and acquire the research skills to be able to identify and develop a suitable research proposal in preparation for carrying out a project relevant to their MSc programme.
Rehabilitation Sciences (30 credits)
The aims of the module are to:
- Develop a broad but comprehensive knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation sciences including of the general functions, context and management of rehabilitation and rehabilitation services, and of the fundamental considerations, issues and scientific principles underpinning sport and exercise rehabilitation specifically
- Be introduced to the role of rehabilitation and strength and conditioning in the treatment and recovery from musculoskeletal injury, in the treatment of chronic diseases, as well as in specific population groups.
Professional and Reflective Practice in Exercise Rehabilitation (30 credits)
This module aims to provide students with the practical knowledge and skills required to either rehabilitate athletes or support the exercise rehabilitation of injured, ill and/or patient groups and critically reflect upon and develop their own professional practice.

The aim of this module is to provide students with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to be able to programme and deliver musculoskeletal exercise rehabilitation and injury management activities safely and effectively across a range of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders.
Research Project in Sport, Health and Rehabilitation (60 credits)
The aim of this module is for students to design, conduct and report on an original research study of an aspect of their MSc programme.
