Accounting and Finance

Two students working together in a study space.

The MSc Accounting and Finance degree provides graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue roles in professional accounting firms, financial institutions, corporations and non-profit organisations.

Our Accounting and Finance programme provides a thorough grounding across both critical disciplines. This MSc caters for both those considering careers in professional accounting or the internal finance function of a wide range of organisations on the one hand, or banking and investment on the other. The programme also offers vital knowledge and skills for those interested in setting up and sustaining new ventures.

The core programme content will give you a rigorous understanding of accounting and finance fundamentals, along with the practical skills needed to address complex management issues, improve practice, and meet the challenges of today’s fast-paced business world. This combination of theory and practice helps our graduates to be fully prepared to put their knowledge and skills into action in the professional environment. There are also opportunities to undertake a practical consultancy project and build additional CV assets or micro-credentials to help you stand out in the job market.

This MSc in Accounting and Finance is an ideal choice if you have a non-finance, business related undergraduate degree and are looking to transition into either an accounting or finance career. Alternatively, if you have a background in accounting or finance, this programme is an excellent way to deepen your skills and gain a well-recognised postgraduate qualification.

Economics

Two students sat down discussing and looking at papers.

Embark on the next stage of your learning journey with our full-time master’s degree in Economics. This programme explores the diverse array of impacts that the economic way of thinking has on our world. You will study how economics contributes to contemporary debates on a broad spectrum of issues, including monetary policy, organisational strategies, and social and environmental initiatives.

Our modules, focused on real-world application, are tailored to empower you to make significant contributions to communities and economies, aligning your academic pursuits with meaningful societal impact. You will also have the opportunity to build critical assets for your CV by undertaking independent research on a topic of your choice or participating in a practical consultancy project.

This newly revamped programme has three pathways for you to choose from:

  1. Generalist
  2. Sustainable development
  3. Data science

Each pathway offers you the opportunity to study a distinct combination of modules in semester 2, allowing you to examine in depth the areas of economics that best align with your academic interests and career aspirations.

This MSc in Economics is ideal if you have an undergraduate degree in economics, and would like to deepen your knowledge by learning how it can be applied to improve the world we live in. It is equally suitable for those with an undergraduate degree in other disciplines that have a substantial quantitative element, who are aspiring to transition into a career as an economist.
