Welcome to Claudia Parsons

Claudia Parsons is a new Hall of Residence opened in 2019 - this hall is named after an English engineer, traveller and Alumna of Loughborough University. She is known for being the first woman to circumnavigate the world by car. Located in the village, Claudia Parsons is at the heart of campus and close to lecture theatres, sporting facilities and the Students' Union.

Upcoming Plans

More activities within your hall are coming soon. Keep an eye out for the following:

  • Refreshers (early February): A social programme of events at the beginning of the second semester.
  • Spring Elections (February): Nominate yourself for a committee position and/or vote on who you wish to run certain sections within your hall.
  • Summer Ball (May): A summertime formal celebration to end your academic year.
  • Hall Day (May-June): An outdoor fun-filled day of activities to destress before final exams.

Hall Chair

Main responsibilities of this role are: to lead committee, to call and chair committee meetings, to represent the Hall’s views, to chair Hustings, to delegate duties and responsibilities to Committee members.

Vice Chair & Treasurer

Main responsibilities of this role are: To assist the chair with their day-to-day tasks, to chair Committee when the Chair is unavailable, to record all minutes from every Hall and Committee meeting . and the incumbent must be prepared to assume the position of Hall Chair. 

Social Secretary

Main responsibilities of this role are: To organise social events for Hall throughout the year; to organise special Hall events; to ensure all events abide by the University Regulation XIX and Hall Events Risk Management Policy;

Welfare and Diversity Representative

Main responsibilities of this role are: To arrange a variety of events for all origins and orientations; to signpost students to the appropriate University and LSU welfare services;

Media Representative

Main responsibilities of this role are:  to be responsible for media, communications and publicity and to work constructively with the Stash Representative and deputise for them wherever necessary

Sports Secretary

Main responsibilities of this role are:  To be responsible for the organisation of all Hall sports and teams in all Intramural Sports (IMS) and Games; to manage and maintain all hall sporting equipment.

Rag Representative

(2 positions available) Main responsibilities of this role are: to support fundraising activities within the Hall and engaging students in LSU RAG events, encouraging maximum Hall engagement in RAG initiatives, planning and delivering hall-specific RAG events.

Action Representative

(2 positions available) Main responsibilities of this role are: To inform the Hall of the existence of Action and the opportunities it offers; to recruit Action volunteers from within the Hall.

Societies Representative

Main responsibilities of this role are:  organising and runing events within Hall collaboratively with societies, promoting societies events to Hall members, supporting at Winterfest and the Activities Bazaar and signposting Hall members to relevant societies of interest within LSU.

AAIR Representative

Main responsibilities of this role are:  supporting the engagement and inclusion of alumni, affiliate, international, and returning students within the Hall community,  organising events and initiatives tailored to AAIR members; promoting inclusivity and integration within the Hall, and acting as a liaison between AAIR students and the Hall Committee.

Enterprise Representative

Main responsibilities of this role are: Promote and signpost hall members to Loughborough enterprise network events and workshops, build volunteer teams of hall members for LEN and organise hall events that promote entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial skills.
