HESA reporting

Each year the University has a statutory requirement to produce a statistical return to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), providing detailed information in respect of its workforce.  HESA are the official agency for the collection, analysis and dissemination of quantitative information about higher education in the UK.  They collect information on behalf of their statutory customers who typically are DfES (Department of Education and Skills), HEFCE (Higher Education Funding Council for England), TTA (Teacher Training Agency), DH (Department of Health), along with the regional statutory bodies for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Each record is anonymous in that names are not supplied.  Individuals are only known to HESA by a unique number and the correlation with names is kept locally for our records only. Most of the information supplied relates to your appointment with the University and will be extracted from our existing records.

As we are required to submit data to HESA on an annual basis, it is a requirement that you keep your personal information updated through my.HR. (The University’s Employee Self Service System).  This will include your highest qualification held.  For academic members of staff you are also required to provide details of any Academic Teaching Qualifications you may hold.

If you are a casual member of staff and do not have access to my.HR then please complete the HESA questionnaire below which can be submitted to the Human Resources department.

Further Information about why this data is needed can be found by going to the HESA website.

Under the Data Protection Act 1998you have the right to a copy of the data held about you.

If you have any concerns about, or objections to, the use of data for these purposes, please contact HESA, or write to 95 Promenade, Cheltenham, GL50 1HZ.

If you have any other queries or concerns please contact Human Resources.
