Before joining the Wolfson School as a University Teacher, Paul spent 20 years in Industry working in technical and managerial positions in the Telecommunications, Consumer Product Design, Consultancy, Mining, and Rail sectors. During Paul’s career in design, he created his own Limited Company specialising in e-commerce to retail his own range of products designed, sourced and manufactured worldwide.

Whilst employed as an Application Manager at Ericsson Paul delivered a unified approach to Computer Aided Engineering and contributed towards the standardisation of Ericsson’s working methodology. Paul implemented and managed the rapid prototyping facility within Ericsson delivering improved product design lead-time and ‘right first time’. Paul helped to form a Global Mechanical Engineering team at Ericsson to share design ideas and harmonise design tools and working methodology.

During his time as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Marconi Paul applied his technical knowledge to the design of innovative telecommunications products using sheet metal, injection moulding, pressure die casting and machined techniques. Within his role at Marconi Paul developed and managed relationships with supply chain, partners and vendors.

Paul joined Loughborough University in 2010 and he has been passionate about forming relationships with Industry for future graduates. Paul teaches students in a wide range of modules in the Product Design Engineering, Sports Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management degree programmes.

Qulifications and awards

Paul completed the New Lecturers’ Course in 2012 and has achieved the status of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
