Dr Jabbar is a Vice-Chancellor Independent Research Fellow (VCIRF) at Loughborough University, UK, with the Wireless Communications Research Group. He has been endorsed as a Global Talent by the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, through a rigorous peer-review process.
He earned his PhD in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, in 2024, supported by a fully funded, competitive international scholarship. He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Glasgow Caledonian University in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, and Coventry University, UK. He has also worked as an RF System Design Engineer at the R&D headquarters of Curvalux, UK, where he contributed to the development and testing of state-of-the-art mmWave Fixed Wireless Access products. He has also worked as a visiting researcher at ABB Corporate Research Centre, Sweden.
He is active reviewer of several prestigious scientific journals. He is a member of IEEE and IET. He has expertise in RF front-end designs, wireless communication networks, metamaterial-based smart holographic antennas and programmable metasurfaces including design, fabrication, and system level experimental validation, with an emphasis on real-world applications in industrial wireless systems, healthcare technologies, as well as beyond 5G and 6G wireless systems.
