Loughborough Fine Art students shine at Leicester Open Exhibition

Leicester Open Exhibition Entrance

Three of our talented second-year Fine Art students, Heidi Greathead, Annabel Prins, and Tom Hudson, have achieved remarkable success by securing places in this year’s Leicester Open Exhibition at New Walk Museum.

The Leicester Open is a prestigious, jury-selected exhibition that has been running for over 35 years. It celebrates the creativity and diversity of the East Midlands, offering artists of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities the opportunity to showcase their work. Following a competitive selection process, museum staff curate the final show, ensuring a dynamic and inspiring display of regional talent.

Our students’ contributions:

  • Heidi Greathead: Her framed graphite drawing Icing on the Cake depicts two girls and explores themes of friendship, the passing of time, and memory.

  • Tom Hudson: Specialising in portraiture, Tom’s accepted works Talisha and Picking Berries capture his close friends and family.

  • Annabel Prins: Her piece Flow is an ink and paper stippling drawing, created through a meditative process of placing individual dots on paper. Focused on abstraction rather than a specific subject, the work forms an organic, flowing shape that reflects the rhythm and patience of its making.

The exhibition is open now and will close to the public on Friday 30 January 2026.

We are immensely proud of Heidi, Annabel, and Tom for harnessing their creativity and initiative to secure places in such a respected exhibition. Their success reflects the strength and vibrancy of Fine Art at Loughborough University School of Design and Creative Arts.
