Xiaoli Wu is a visiting professor of the School of Design and Creative Arts and a collaborative researcher scholar of Human Factors in Transport Safety at Loughborough University. She also serves as the director of the Human Factors & Ergonomics (HF&E) Joint Master’s Degree Programme between Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST) and Loughborough University (LU).

In addition to her visiting professorship, Xiaoli is also currently a professor and PhD supervisor in Nanjing University of Science and Technology. She leads the Research Centre of Human Factors and Intelligent Interaction at NJUST. 

Prof Xiaoli holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering(Ergonomics) from Southeast University(2015). Her academic journey includes over three years as a research scholar at the Research School of Computer Science at the Australian National University (2017). She has also held esteemed positions as an academic visiting professor at the UCL Interaction Centre (2023), the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham (2023), and the School of Design and Art Creative at Loughborough University (2024).

Prof. Xiaoli is interested in exploring the correlation and mechanism among visual cognition, operators' tasks (coordination between natural persons, robots, or intelligent units), multi-modal physiological factors, and visualization design factors. Her research is active in areas such as nuclear power plant monitoring, aircraft cockpits, intelligent driving, and smart factories. She currently holds a number of grant projects with external organizations, including the National Natural Science Foundation.
