Statement
Once illustrators begin drawing, they depart from realistic representation of lived experience (Medley, 2016). Illustration thinking leads to the embodiment of lived experience, expressed tacitly in the visual narratives (Chand, 2017). This means: rather than simply documenting the lived experience, illustration is a means of narration, exploration, negotiation, and negation.
