Statement

This drawing is one of a series speaking to the body's sensory engagement with air, water, earth, fire and aether, the elemental forces we are both composed of and entwined with. The use of a reduced primal language recalls the lineage of humanity and hopes to spark a remembering of the universal bodily interconnection with the wider web of life. 

Bio

Joanna Leah and Orla Bates are collaborators merging movement and drawing. Joanna explores body space through embodied choreographic practice, creating line-making rooted in experience. Orla's work focuses on drawing as a somatic, in-the-moment inquiry. Together, they blend embodied movement and visual art to explore their practices physical and conceptual intersections.
