Dr Danny Buckley is Director of Studies at Loughborough Business School for Executive and Professional Education. Before transitioning to academia in 2016, Danny built an extensive professional career in strategic leadership, sales, and marketing across the automotive, fashion, and sports sectors, including running his own businesses.

Prior to joining Loughborough, Danny led Apprenticeships and Executive Education at Leicester Castle Business School, where he successfully directed government-funded programmes such as Help to Grow: Management, corporate training, and management apprenticeships at multiple levels. During this time, he established strategic partnerships with local councils and chambers of commerce, delivering measurable impact and enabling more businesses to access high-quality management education.

Danny holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour, is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Management Institute. His research explores informal work, legitimacy, reflexivity, and work-based learning, using qualitative methods to examine how individuals navigate diverse economic contexts and non-traditional career paths. His work has been published in leading academic journals, featured on public platforms such as The Conversation, and presented at major business and management conferences, aiming to bridge scholarly research with societal relevance.

His contributions to education and industry engagement have been recognised through multiple nominations, including the Student Choice Teaching Award for student-focused excellence, the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce 2024 Business Award for education–industry partnerships, and an Outstanding Contribution to Enterprise.
