The HEIST Awards, organised by Havas People – Education, celebrate excellence in higher education marketing, communications, and student engagement.
The UK SCALE Centre, created in 2024, is a long-term collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Centre for Transportation and Logistics (MIT-CTL).
The Centre aims to work with businesses, academics, policymakers and aspiring supply chain professionals to build fit-for-purpose future supply chains, with a focus on productivity, sustainability and resilience.
The Bronze Award recognises the significance of the Centre’s strategic partnership with the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL), through which Loughborough became the first UK member of the prestigious MIT Global SCALE Network.
Evaluating the collaboration, the judges commented: “Big and bold. A great partnership with real credibility thanks to the MIT link that comes with a strong academic industry positioning.”
Will Blackshaw, Loughborough Business School Communications Manager, said: "We were delighted to receive the Bronze Award in the category of 'Collaboration of the Year', recognising the development of the UK SCALE Centre. This accolade is a fantastic acknowledgement of the growing strength of our ongoing collaboration with MIT, and a testament to the hard work of both our marketing and academic colleagues who have made it such a success so far."
The SCALE partnership is facilitating joint research, teaching, and knowledge exchange across international institutions, with a shared focus on tackling complex global supply chain and logistics challenges. The Centre will also support the development of innovative educational programmes that combine academic excellence with real-world applications and impact.
Loughborough University won four awards in total, also receiving accolades for the ‘Don’t Mention It’ campaign, in the ‘Best Use Of Content’ category, and two wins in the ‘Rising Star’ category.
