Loughborough University was recognised as one of the Most Outstanding Institutions in the World 2025, by the inaugural EDUopinions Reputation Barometer Awards, at this year’s European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Dr Maxine Clarke and Lucy Dixon of Loughborough Business School represented the University at the 2025 EAIE Conference, joining more than 7,000 delegates from over 100 countries.

The annual conference, a leading event in the field of international higher education, focused this year on the theme of collaboration, cooperation and co-creation. Participants explored new opportunities for working together across borders to address pressing challenges around sustainability, inclusion, and innovation.

During the conference, Loughborough University received recognition as one of the ‘Most Outstanding Institutions in the World 2025’ in the inaugural EDUopinions Reputation Barometer Awards.

The Reputation Barometer analyses the emotions and sentiments expressed by students in their experiences. Drawing from EDUopinions, Google reviews, and discussions on platforms such as Reddit and Quora, the Barometer offers a student-centred perspective on global university reputation.

Loughborough University was one of just six institutions worldwide to receive this distinction, alongside the University of Cambridge, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Chicago, École Polytechnique Paris, and the Stockholm School of Economics.

This award highlights the University’s enduring impact on its student community and beyond, recognising the collective efforts of faculty, professional services staff, and alumni in cultivating an environment where students thrive both academically and personally.

Lucy Dixon, International Relations Manager at Loughborough Business School, said: “I was delighted to be able to collect this award on behalf of the University, it’s fantastic to know that there are such positive sentiments towards Loughborough from our students and graduates.

“International partnerships across the higher education sector are part of what makes for great student experiences, so to be here with educators from around the world and hear about the impact on student experience is amazing.”
