Exhibitions and Shows

Students and staff within the School have a number of opportunities to exhibit their work at a range of events.

Architecture End of Year Show

Our end of year show celebrates work across all year groups and showcases speculative ideas that challenge conventional approaches to the built environment. We are continually inspired and humbled with the possibilities of our students; their curiosity of the unknown and their tenacity to work through ideas.

LU-Arc Summer School 2023

Our annual LU-Architecture Summer School is a collaborative effort with four Japanese universities: Hiroshima IT, Kyoto, Kyushu, and Kitakyushu University. This event takes place during an intensive design week, where we welcome students and professors from Japan to work alongside LU students and staff. Together, they embarked on the task of designing a pavilion, which was constructed in Japan in Spring 2024.

The main objective of this workshop was to challenge students to design a small building that harmoniously blended the cultural, traditional, and contemporary aspects of both the UK and Japan. The building's purpose was related to food, such as an apple store for storing apple harvests.

More recently, the theme was to create a 'Mobile Tea House' rooted in Japan's rich architectural and ceremonial traditions in tea, while also pushing the boundaries of traditional building models by adopting innovative contemporary designs. By utilizing computational design tools and digital fabrication techniques, students gained modern design skills and applied them in conjunction with traditional building methods, resulting in a distinctive architectural solution that reinterpreted traditions in a fresh manner, drawing inspiration from both countries
