Research interests:

All areas of gas turbine combustion research. Alternative fuels for gas turbines and i.c. engines, this includes fuels from a wide range of feedstocks (e.g. bio and gas to liquid). Advanced materials for combustion systems including ceramics and composites. Heat transfer in combustion chambers including fibrous ceramic insulators. Fuel cells and catalytic combustion

 

High hydrogen fuels for industrial and stationary gas turbines. Thermoacoustics in gas turbine combustion systems. Ultra-low emission systems running on both gas and liquid fuels. Hydrogen combustion.

 

Low pressure augmenting combustion systems.

Research

Undertakes research in a variety of areas mainly relating to the development of gas turbine combustion and aerothermal related technologies. This includes reacting flows, development of low emission and ultra-low emission combustion systems, sustainable aviation fuels, 2 phase flows, thermo-acoustics, heat transfer. This includes both experimental activities and the development of chemical kinetics, reacting flow network and CFD tools
