Minimum Income Standard (MIS) reports

Below you’ll find published and in-progress reports (labelled working papers), providing insight into the UK’s Minimum Income Standard (MIS), plus geographic MIS insights. The reports also address the experiences of households who fall below the MIS, whilst looking at households with disabilities and other themes of importance.

UK MIS reports

These reports are produced in September each year. Please select the year you wish to review to see the published report. 

The 2008 report set the original budgets, with new research considering household needs from scratch to rebase the budgets in 2012 and 2016 for families with children and in 2014 and 2018 for other household types.

The 2018 report reviewed ten years of change in what society considers a minimum.
