CREST About

CREST is the largest and leading UK sustainable energy research centre, and a leading European academic group. Its research is innovative, excellent and relevant, influencing industry, policy makers, researchers and educators across the world.

Established in 1993, the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) has overseen the research and development of the most progressive renewable energy technologies. New technologies to develop viable fossil fuel alternatives and support rapid growth within the global sustainable energy sector are increasingly essential. CREST continues to instigate, lead and deliver high quality, original research, collaborating with industry and international academic networks.

CREST was the first centre in the UK to offer a rigorous, bespoke postgraduate degree in renewable energy systems technologies (REST), and we continue this today through our constantly evolving taught courses, informed by the latest research and delivered by world-leading experts. The innovative distance learning adaptation continues to widen its global reach and influence. The course has undeniably enhanced the status of study in this area, and its highly skilled graduates are prized by industry and many enjoy positions of influence.

We encourage cultural acceptance of new energy sources and continue to shape the sustainable energy landscape, supporting innovation, resourcing policy development and increasing knowledge through proactive dissemination. Our expansion continues as new research avenues are explored through large-scale, ground-breaking collaborations and increasing numbers continue to benefit from our teaching and knowledge dissemination.
