Loughborough University London Open Fund awards small grants to community organisations

On 3 July 2019 Loughborough University London awarded small grants to ten community organisations to support their work with local people.

The funding will help organisations to expand and develop the projects and services they offer. For example, Trowbridge Senior Citizens Club plans to offer ‘silver surfer’ classes to help groups of older people get online and Bromley By Bow Centre will be offering health and fitness classes for those with chronic conditions.

Representatives from the community groups were invited to a special celebration in the University’s main lecture theatre where they could network and receive their cheques, presented by Chris Euden, Loughborough University London’s Operations Director.

Ben Cole, Stakeholder Development Manager for Loughborough University London said: “Our London Open Fund is just a small part of our commitment to being a good neighbour here in east London. These awards are going to some amazing local organisations who do great work to improve and enliven our community.  We are really happy that these grants will help them do more.”

The London Open Fund was established in 2017 and has awarded nearly £20,000 to local community groups and projects.

Applications will re-open in Spring 2020. More details can be found here.
