Loughborough-linked women cricketers get international call up

Cricket’s England Women have named their squads for the upcoming tours of India and Sri Lanka, which feature 12 Loughborough University-linked players.

The tour kicks off later this month when England Women will travel to India for three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals, before heading to Sri Lanka.

Featuring in the squad are current students Sophia Dunkley and Linsey Smith, along with 10 Loughborough alumna: Tammy Beaumont, Katherine Brunt, Georgia Elwiss, Amy Jones, Laura Marsh, Natalie Sciver, Anya Shrubsole, Fran Wilson, Lauren Winfield and Alex Hartley.

Rob Taylor, the University’s Head Women’s Cricket Coach said: “It is great to see so many Loughborough-linked players selected for the England squad. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and wish them the best of luck for the tour.”
