International Women's Day Events
The events programme for International Women's Day is as follows:
EmpowerHER: Rise and Shine Yoga
Join Lboro Sport for this free activator-led, yoga-based session designed for women and non-binary students and staff. This session will focus on building strength, enhancing flexibility, and practicing mindful breathing to support mental wellbeing. Book via the Lboro Sport app on the ‘Rec sport’ tile.
EmpowerHER: My Wellbeing Cardio Tennis
Enjoy a free, fun, and high-energy fitness session designed for women and non-binary students and staff. This social workout blends the best elements of tennis with cardiovascular exercise, offering an exciting and inclusive way to stay active. Book via the Lboro Sport app on the ‘Rec sport’ tile.
EmpowerHER: AU Cricket Come and Try
Join one of the AU Women's Cricket training sessions and give cricket a try. Whether you're a complete beginner or have prior experience, all women and non-binary students are welcome to take part in this inclusive and supportive session. Message @lborocricketwomens on Instagram to register your interest or for further information.
EmpowerHER: Sunday Service run club
Come along for a relaxed 5km run around campus, hosted by Loughborough Recreational Sport in collaboration with Sunday Service - an inclusive fitness community. Open to women and non-binary individuals of all abilities, this event is all about community and movement. Wear pink to celebrate International Women's Week and get active together! EmpowerHER: Officiating Networking Session
This session will provide an opportunity for female officials from all sports to network and discuss officiating. We will also have the opportunity to hear from and talk to some senior officials at the top of their game! Coffee and cake will be provided. Book via the Lboro Sport app on the ‘Rec sport’ tile.
How to negotiate as a woman in the workplace?
This Maia London event provides lived experiences and negotiation skills/tools for the future for women in the workplace.
EmpowerHER: Bring a friend to AU Korfball
If you are interested in trying out Korfball and your friend is a member of the Athletic Union club, they will be hosting a bring a friend session so make sure to reach out to them and come along!
EmpowerHER: Coffee and cake catch up
Come along for an informal get together, which is an opportunity to chat and meet other like-minded students and staff for EmpowerHER campaign week. There will be complimentary pastries, tea and coffee.
EmpowerHER x My Wellbeing: Frisbee
Designed for those looking to focus on improving physical and mental wellbeing, our women and non-binary frisbee session will provide participants with guided instructions and the fundamental techniques in a fun and supported environment. Book via the Lboro Sport app on the ‘Rec sport’ tile.
EmpowerHER: UV Zumba
Get ready to dance the evening away in the dark with UV and disco lights at this high-energy Zumba session. Led by our friendly activators, this fun and vibrant session is open to all. Come along solo or bring your friends and give it a go! Book via the Lboro Sport app on the ‘Rec sport’ tile.
EmpowerHER: Soul Sisters Padel Social
Come along for a fun and friendly social Padel session. Come solo or with a partner to play matches against different players in a supportive environment. All levels are welcome, but some basic match play experience is recommended. Equipment is provided, and our Padel managers will be on hand to guide the games. This session will also include a Q&A panel with Padel athlete Victoria Nicholas. Book via the Lboro Sport app on the Padel tile, then select Social.

Looking to try something new? Join the MyLifestyle Volleyball session, designed for women and non-binary students and staff. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, this fun and inclusive session offers expert guidance in a supportive environment. All abilities welcome, and all equipment is provided. EmpowerHER: Girls Night In
Come along for a night of networking, fun, and freebies, open to all women and non-binary students. In honour of International Women's Day, a space has been made that celebrates inclusion with an evening packed full of activities including candle painting, salsa dance classes and Bom Bom cookie making, plus more! Tickets are available via the LSU app.
Feminist research at Loughborough – An event led by LUCU
Lboro UCU is marking International Women’s Day with a discussion about feminist research at Loughborough.

This discussion on imposter syndrome from an intersectional and feminist perspective, seeks to challenge commonly held notions of imposter syndrome by focusing on the ways structural and systemic barriers, societal norms, biases, and assumptions impact women in the workplace.

International Women's Day March
Starting and ending at Hazlerigg Fountain, join colleagues for fresh air and camaraderie for a march around campus to mark International Women’s Day and discuss how as a collective we can ‘Accelerate Action’.
Latin Dance Workshop
This is an energetic dance workout that combines Latin and international music with fun dance moves, including salsa, merengue, reggaeton and hip-hop beats. It’s a fantastic way to get your body moving, boost your energy, and improve cardiovascular health.
