Alumna Dobbin wins bronze in dramatic Women’s 4x400m Relay finish
Alumna Beth Dobbin claimed a dramatic bronze medal with Team Scotland in the Women’s 4x400m Relay after England’s disqualification at Alexander Stadium.
Following an incredible race, it was adjudged that England’s runners had stepped out of lane at the start of the second leg, resulting in the host’s win being wiped from the slate.
Prior to the judges’ decision, Loughborough alumna Jessie Knight produced one of the finishes of the Games, finding a final bit of energy to thrust her arm out on the line as Canada closed in.
However, Knight’s inventive tactic was duly in vain, as the judges intervened to award Canada gold, Jamaica silver, and Scotland bronze.
The Scot’s time of 3:30.15 was a season’s best with the podium place just reward for Dobbin.
