Loughborough best university in the world for sports-related subjects for fourth year running
Loughborough has yet again been crowned the best university in the world for sports-related subjects by the global QS higher education league table.
The QS ranking is based on surveying academic staff that declare a speciality in the subject area, and employers who seek to employ graduates that specialise in the discipline. It is also based on research output and impact, with both citations and paper output measured over a five-year period.
The University has taken the title ever since it was launched by QS in 2017, a testament to its outstanding regard among the world’s academic community.
Professor Mark Lewis, Dean of Loughborough’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences said: “It is an incredible achievement to be named best in the world for sports-related subjects once – but to secure this title for four years in a row is truly phenomenal. Loughborough is home to internationally-leading academic talent, and it is testament to these academics that we continue to be the very best in the world across a multi- and interdisciplinary environment.”
Jack Moran, QS Spokesperson, added: “This year’s edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject sees Loughborough extend its unbroken run as the world’s best provider of sports-related education.
“We find that no university in the world is more respected by the global academic community for its sporting courses, with Loughborough receiving a perfect score of 100/100 for our Academic Reputation indicator. However, with scores in the nineties for employability and research, it is evident from our dataset that Loughborough’s faculty have committed to excellence across key pillars of their mission – from cutting-edge knowledge production to preparing its Sports graduates for success in the job market.”
Loughborough has also been ranked in the global top 50 for other subjects, including top ten in the world for Library and Information Management and 24th for Art and Design.
