Profile
Dr Robin Jackson is a Reader in Sport Psychology at Loughborough University, specialising in perceptual‑cognitive expertise. Much of his research focuses on how athletes perceive, anticipate and make decisions in high-pressure performance contexts, including how athletes attempt to deceive opponents and how context affects these interactions. A key strand of his work examines attentional processes and why athletes can be negatively affected by pressure. Robin also has a strong commitment to para sport, with research including evidence‑based classification in goalball and performance analysis in wheelchair sport.
He is Executive Editor of the Journal of Sports Sciences (Sport and Exercise Psychology section) and a founder member of the British Psychological Society’s Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology.
