Profile
Professor Paul Fleming leads the University’s Sport Surfaces Research Group. With a background in geotechnical engineering and over 30 years’ experience in research and practice, Paul has refined expertise in transport infrastructure and sports facility engineering.
He provides expert commentary about how sports surfaces (artificial and natural turf systems) influence player performance, comfort and injury risk, and how testing and maintenance practices can be optimised. He has previously worked with international governing bodies, industry and policymakers, including FIFA, FIH and Sport England.
