Profile
Dr Mark Doidge is an expert in environmental sustainability in sport, and the sociology of European football fan cultures. This includes expertise in hooliganism, ultras, and political activism.
His research focuses on the role football can play in our understanding of important social issues such as climate change – particularly with the use of communication, engagement and innovation. He is also interested in the role sport can play in tackling racism, hate crime and supporting refugees.
Dr Doidge has previously provided expert comments on football and climate change, spoken at the British Academy on football and refugees, and has provided media interviews about his recently completed UKRI-funded projects on hate crime, online hate, and violence against women.
