Profile
Dr Karl Steptoe’s work focuses on applied sport and performance psychology, with particular interest in understanding and preventing performance breakdown under pressure. His research explores the effectiveness of psychological interventions designed to accelerate expertise and support performance in high-pressure environments, including elite golf and team sports.
Alongside his academic role, he is a registered HCPC‑registered and BPS‑chartered sport and exercise psychologist with extensive applied experience. He has worked with athletes and teams in Premier League football, professional county cricket, GB Wheelchair Tennis, and players competing on the men’s and women’s European and PGA golf tours.
