Profile
Dr Jamie Barker is an international sport and performance psychologist who specialises in helping individuals and teams manage stress, improve mental health, and perform at their best in high pressure environments. Jamie’s areas of research focus are stress, group dynamics, wellbeing, and mental health across performance contexts. Jamie has an international and world-leading research profile with over 80 peer reviewed publications and research Grants totalling more than £1.5 Million from ESRC, WADA, Armed Forces Covenant Fund. World leading expertise within the areas of stress, mental health and social identity.
Spanning sport, business, healthcare and the military, his research has real-world applications with particular focus on effective coping strategies that enhance wellbeing and performance. He has worked with leading organisations including Sony Europe, Sony Mobile, The Football Association, the England and Wales Cricket Board, UK Sports Institute, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Great Britain Rowing, Watford Football Club, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, and The Royal Air Forces Association and The Royal Air Force.
With over 25 years of applied experience supporting elite athletes and coaches, Jamie is also an Associate Editor for the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology and Mental Health Science, as well as being a registered practitioner sport and exercise psychologist.
