Profile
Dr Emma Pullen’s research focuses on gendered and embodied experiences of sport and physical activity, particularly women’s lived experiences, and participation. She has done work on pregnancy and postpartum experience amongst exercising women and elite Olympic and Paralympic athletes. She uses qualitative and creative research approaches to explore social and cultural impacts on engagement with sport and physical activity.
Emma has been involved in several professional working groups and is a member of the Peer Review College (PRC) for the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Emma has contributed to policy development, documentaries, radio and online media including BBC East Midlands and BBC World Service.
