As a PhD researcher in synthetic organic chemistry, I am interested in the design and synthesis of three-dimensional molecules for the application of organic-electronic devices.

I have always loved science. As a child my dream job was to become a marine biologist but unfortunately after a scuba diving trip that left me feeling very claustrophobic, I decided that I needed to change my mind and that’s when I decided Chemistry was the subject for me. Eventually I decided to undertake a PhD so that I could pursue a career in research, which is something I have fallen in love with during my time at university.

Unfortunately, it is very hard for me to hold something that directly links to my research as most of the chemicals/methods I use are extremely dangerous to our health and body. Therefore, I have chosen a necklace depicting the chemical structure of dopamine, which is a chemical released in the brain to make you feel satisfaction and motivation. I have chosen this because this is the way I feel when carrying out my research and in turn helping the world to become a better place.
