Chui-Man Williams
Chui-Man is the heart and soul of Towers Dining Hall! Chui-Man not only strives to give Towers students a great catered experience but makes the Dining Hall feel like a second home. Every year she knows all 310 Towers residents by name by the end of Welcome Week, can befriend even the shyest student, and keeps the 'troublemakers' out of trouble! She is great at identifying students who may need some extra support and letting me know and has consistently encouraged Towers student to get involved with all aspects of Hall life.
Lou Clarke
As the cleaner for STEMLab for the past eight years, Lou has gone far beyond the expectations of her role, becoming an integral part of the lab community and a true unsung hero. What truly sets Lou apart is her proactive approach to safety. As a Safety Champion, she has taken it upon herself to learn about the labs, ensuring not only her own safety but also that of staff and students. Lou also plays a vital role in fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere. Every morning, she brings warmth and cheer to the labs, greeting everyone with a smile, music, and even the occasional song.
The University Gardens Team
The Gardens Team are the quiet champions of our campus environment. The Gardens Team has played a key role in developing accessible green spaces, such as the Palmers Spinney and sensory planting areas near student accommodation. These spaces are designed to be inclusive and calming, offering students and staff places for reflection, relaxation, and mental restoration. They also support local schools by hosting educational visits and workshops on horticulture and sustainability.
The UG Design Student Admin Team
The Undergraduate Design administration team uphold the university values in many ways and go above and beyond in their roles, specifically providing design students with an excellent student experience. This past year they have dealt with particularly challenged students for which they have had to go above and beyond to support and implement many measures to enable them to participate with their studies. As an academic staff member, me and my colleagues could not be as effective without this team behind us.
