The ‘Don’t Mention It’ Team

This campaign, aptly titled “Don’t Mention It,” spotlighted Loughborough-linked athletes at the 2024 Games in Paris while navigating stringent trademark and branding restrictions. The result? A world-class showcase of innovation, collaboration, and strategic storytelling that firmly positioned Loughborough as a global sporting powerhouse. With over 5.4 million impressions, 1 million video views, and 160,000 engagements, the campaign reached more people than the populations of entire nations—including New Zealand and Croatia.

Dr Ishara Dharmasena

Ishara is a globally leading theorist in triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG), a new sensor technology, named among top 10 emerging technologies in chemistry by IUPAC in 2024. Collaborating with 10 universities and 8 industrial partners globally, in 2024, he established the Smart Textiles Lab at LU, and led the successful SuS-Tex VC doctoral cluster bid, creating pathways for LU to lead future wearable technologies in sports & healthcare.

Professor Andrew Morris

Prof Morris has been representing Loughborough University on the international stage since 2001. However, during the past 12 months, he has particularly consolidated on, and developed several international activities that further enhance the University’s reputation as a global leader in the field of Transport Human Factors. Thus, embodying the core university strategy for meaningful partnerships and being internationally engaged.

Aobakwe John Makgarapa

Aobakwe John Makgarapa’s award-winning research, global engagement, and public communication efforts have significantly raised Loughborough University’s international profile over the past year. John’s research in software systems and information processing was recognised at a leading international conference in China, where it received an award for excellence. The work, which explores intelligent system design for sustainable and digital applications, highlights the global relevance and quality of Loughborough’s research environment.
