Collaborative Research and Innovation
For driving forward collaborative partnerships across a strategic theme.
Dr Monia Del Pinto
Monia’s research on spatial vulnerability to climate hazards in historic cities is a strong example of cross-disciplinary and cross-sector collaboration at the intersection of two of LU’s strategic priorities: Climate Change and Net Zero, and Inclusive Communities. Her research with UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath informed the development of 2024-2030 Heritage Management Plan. In parallel, she teamed up with Bath Community Groups, Colouring Cities Research Programme and Pennsylvania University to develop her ‘Wellcome ECA’ fellowship proposal.
The ‘Think Human’ Team
The Think Human team displayed exceptional dedication and unwavering support in the design and manufacture of the Think Human interactive booth. This ambitious project which was in collaborative efforts involving a working group led by Rebecca Grant, the Derby Museum of making and Loughborough University. as well as the Charted Institute of Ergonomics and Human factors (CIEHF).
Professor Matthew Inglis & Professor Camilla Gilmore
In 2019 Mathew Inglis and Camilla Gilmore secured £6.6M from UKRI to find the Centre for Mathematical Cognition (CMC) within the Department of Mathematics Education here at Loughborough. At the conclusion of the funding in 2024, the CMC smashed its targets under their collaborative directorship. For example, CMC staff are based in the School of Science and work closely with staff in SSEHS to deliver the BSc Psychology programme, which has increased its income by about 50% on top of projections.
