Dr Andrew Dix

Campus union case work is crucial to making sure that the university values are lived, and that University policy is followed. As UCU Personal Case Work Coordinator since 2020 Andrew Dix has done superb work and invested many hours helping others. Every year he helps dozens of people and has supported over 60 cases in total. Personal Case Work Coordinator is not a glamorous role, and most of Andrew’s amazing contributions go on under the radar.

Darren Weaver

Originally a student of Loughborough College of Art & Design in the 1980s, Darren Weaver was invited to the college’s in-house design studio. 35 years later, his talents continue servicing SDCA students across all levels of study as a Technical Tutor. One of Darren’s most impressive feats is completely re-skilling as a Graphic Designer to become the Fashion and Textiles Technical Tutor, bridging the gap between the material world and its digital possibilities.

Bee King

As a long-standing Technical Tutor at SDCA, many shadow Bee in their first few months like I had done, either in an official or an unofficial capacity. Aside being a hall warden, her Stitch Workshop, under the Textiles remit, has been the barometer for creating the absolute outstanding offer for students and staff alike her creativity and constant refresh of her workshop and the display housed there, is the wow factor for Open Days and visit days I can quite happily say that I modelled the new KNIT workshop on her set up.

Dr Savannah Worne

Dr Worne’s research pioneers’ new methods to understand impacts of growing wastewater treatment pressures on global environmental systems in a changing climate, with implications for recreational to elite water sports. Savannah established GYE’s Environmental Biogeochemistry Group, leading monthly activities with a focus on ECR and technician development. Her pedagogic talent and voluntary contributions to teaching reflect a passion for environmental education and commitment to outstanding student experience.
