Being part of the Maia Committee is a rewarding and exciting experience. As a committee member, you get the opportunity to work with people you wouldn't usually have the chance to work with, at all levels. You'll support Maia members and the wider university community with a variety of issues of interest to women, including trans women and non-binary people comfortable in a female-centred community. Operations Lead
Help keep MAIA running smoothly behind the scenes.
The Operations Lead plays a key role in coordinating committee activity, supporting project delivery, and ensuring actions are followed through. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys organisation, planning and making things happen.

Academic Voice
Represent the perspectives and experiences of academic colleagues.
This role helps ensure academic staff perspectives inform MAIA's work and priorities. You'll bring forward ideas, challenges and opportunities from across the academic community and help strengthen connections between MAIA and its members.

Co-Campaign Events Lead
Are you a natural organiser who enjoys bringing people together?
As Co-Events Lead, you'll work with fellow committee members to develop and deliver engaging events for MAIA members. From networking opportunities and guest speakers to workshops and social activities, you'll help create a vibrant programme that supports our community.

- Has creative ideas for member engagement

Advocacy Lead
Be a voice for our members.
The Advocacy Lead works to identify key issues affecting members and helps ensure these are represented in relevant discussions and decision-making processes. You'll work with committee members and stakeholders to champion positive change.

- Enjoys influencing and communicating
- Wants to make a meaningful difference for colleagues

Allyship Voice
Co lead the network's advocacy and engagement activities, helping to drive meaningful change and advance gender equity across the University.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, with support from the Co-Chairs and Operations and Development Lead, the development and delivery of the network's advocacy initiatives, including contributions to working groups, consultations, and policy development.
- Ensure advocacy activities and achievements are effectively communicated to network members and the wider University community.
- Champion initiatives that raise awareness of gender equity issues and promote inclusive solutions through an intersectional lens.
- Act as a key contact and advocate for allies who wish to support gender equity across the University.
- Foster collaboration and encourage active allyship among staff and students.
Who can apply?
This role is open to all members. It may be particularly suited to someone who does not identify as a woman and wishes to focus on promoting allyship, inclusion, and shared responsibility for gender equity.
