Dr Jonathan Wilson

PhD

  • University Teacher in Systems and Mechanical Engineering

Background

Dr. Jonathan Wilson is a University Teacher in Systems and Mechanical Engineering. Currently contributing to an innovative funded project utilising a systems engineering approach for the national deployment of next-generation wireless charging solutions for electric vehicles. He has also led a low-temperature selective catalytic reduction research program at Loughborough University and is the inventor of Ammonia Creation and Conversion Technology (ACCT). The technology has been successfully developed from concept to commercially viable prototype utilising EPSRC Impact Acceleration funding and has attracted several industrial partners to license the intellectual property.

Jonathan is the Project Lead for Aftrak, an accessible, economic solution to energy access in sub-Saharan Africa that deploys green solar microgrids in communities, allowing energy access for all.

Dr Wilson has expertise in systems architecture, systems design, automotive systems, hardware design, engine after-treatment and thermodynamics, plus the application of optical and laser diagnostics for flow and combustion analysis. He has presented widely at international conferences and technical meetings and has worked on several industrial collaborations and commercialisation projects.

Key awards

Dr Wilson has won numerous awards for his PhD research in Low Temperature Ammonia Provision, including the Times Higher Education Award 2017 for Technological Innovation of the Year and the Autocar Sturmey Award 2018 for Innovation and Achievement in the Motor Industry.
