Research and expertise

I am a Doctoral Researcher at Loughborough University, specialising in sustainable concrete techniques, structural analysis, microstructure, and durability of concrete. My research study primarily directed reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete, with a particular focus on the microstructure, transport mechanism, FEM and durability properties.

I hold Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Civil Engineering (by research).

Current research activity

  • Microstructural behaviour of (reinforced) autoclaved aerated concrete
  • Durability properties of (reinforced) autoclaved aerated concrete
  • Dynamic behaviour of rubber incorporated concrete

Recently completed research projects

  • Developing rubber incorporated concrete with the inclusion of nanomaterial
  • The effect of geomatrical parameters on discharge capacity of piano key weirs
  • A sustainable future for rubber incorporated concrete in Sri Lanka

I gained my BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from General Sir John Kotelawela Defence University, in 2019, and I received a MSc in Civil Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2023.

I previously held a position as a lecturer specializing in material and structural engineering. In addition, my involvement in national development and industrial projects provided me with invaluable hands-on experience.

  • Best research paper at the conference of Kotelalwela Defence University, 2021
  • Semi-finalist of Emerging Civil Engineer competition, ICE, Sri Lanka
  • Funded PhD Scholar
