Sharon has been at Loughborough University since 2006 and in that time has managed the Systems Engineering Doctorate Centre and the EPSRCC SUPERGEN SuperSolar Hub and Network +.

Sharon has also provided project management for a number of engineering research projects, research groups, and enterprise projects. Sharon successfully delivered the £1.5 million REPOINT project, a full-scale innovative railway track switch, and a project to detect low adhesion in rail. She also undertook a two-and-a-half-year secondment as a research associate on a European/transatlantic project in systems engineering. Sharon has been responsible and successfully delivered over £20 million of funding.
